Number 1 in our family games top 10 is Everdell , the star of White Goblin Games ! For starters, Everdell is the most beautiful board game ever. But fortunately it is more than just a nice board game: Everdell is also a lot of fun! In Everdell you are the leader of a group of forest dwellers and you try to build the most beautiful village possible in the middle of the forest. Place wooden meeples for resources and build the best cards. Everdell plays over 4 seasons and whoever has the most points at the end of the game wins the number 1 of our family games top 10 !
2. Wing span
A game about birds in the top 10 family games ? And then at number 2? Of course! Don't be fooled if the theme appeals to you less; Wingspan is a great game! In the game you try to create the best possible living environment for your birds in your bird sanctuary. Each bird creates a chain of powerful combinations; a super original system with which you can build a nice engine. The game looks beautiful and the dice tower (a birdhouse) completes the game. And did we already tell you about the miniature eggs that the birds lay? Wingspan is the rightful number 2 in the top 10 family games !
3. The Quest for El Dorado
At number 3 in our family games top 10 is The Search for El Dorado ! In this board game you try to reach El Dorado as quickly as possible. The Search for El Dorado is a deckbuilding board game in which you put together a deck of cards and try to buy better cards. Will you choose the boy scout, the photographer or the propeller plane? You try to find the best route through the wilderness with only one goal: to reach El Dorado first. Then you have won our number 3 in the family games top 10 ! Due to the different surfaces, The Search for El Dorado is always different and is always super exciting!
4.MyCity
My City is a game with super simple rules, but a lot of challenge and variation. In short: a deserved number 4 in our family games top 10 . Each player has a board on which he will build his own city. The deck of cards indicates which building (a Tetris-like tile) the players must build. Of course there are restrictions and due to the campaign of no fewer than 24 games, there are always different things to pay attention to and rules (and game material!) are constantly being added. We have noticed that My City is very addictive, but don't worry: once the campaign is finished, you can continue to play number 4 of our top 10 family games !
5. Dominion
Dominion , oh, Dominion. We have had this board game for over 10 years. I repeat: we have had this board game for over 10 YEARS. Oh, and we still play it a lot and enjoy it. In short: it definitely deserves number 5 in our family games top 10 ! Dominion is a deck building game where everyone starts with the same cards and improves their deck (stack of cards) during the game by buying better action cards, money cards and victory cards. A simple system, which is different every time due to the enormous amount of cards. There are a lot of expansions, so there's no way you'll ever get bored with our number 5 of the top 10 family games !
6. The Quacks of Kakelenburg
In Kwakzalvers van Kakelenburg, each player plays a - you wouldn't expect it - quack who cooks his own soup. The recipe is simple (it's actually not really a recipe): each player draws ingredients from his own supply bag (compiled during the game) until he thinks his drink is perfect. A bit like Marieke cooks. And that is why Geert is in the kitchen at our home. Because what goes wrong with this recipe? Well, there's a good chance you'll pull too many snap peas and then... your whole kettle will explode. De Kwakzalvers van Kakelenburg is a winner for the whole family!
7. New York Zoo
At number 7 in our family games top 10 is New York Zoo . In this board game, from the famous board game maker Uwe Rosenberg , you build your own zoo! You create enclosures for the animals, bring new animals to the zoo and of course take care of your fluffy offspring. On your turn you can do two things: you build a new enclosure or you place new animals in your New York Zoo . In this puzzle game for 1-5 players you have to make smart choices each time to fill your zoo as quickly as possible. The player who fills his zoo first wins number 7 of our family games top 10 !
