In the 19th century, alchemy was considered an occult science: a blend of modern discoveries and ancient wisdom. Although the golden age of alchemy is over, the dream of bending the laws of nature and creating the Philosopher's Stone remains alive and well. A new generation follows in the footsteps of the legendary Hermes Trismegistus, yearning for forbidden knowledge and striving for power. Their imagination and determination are unparalleled; some view them with fear, others with awe and admiration. As you take your first steps into the world of alchemy, your goal is to uncover mysteries hidden since the beginning of time and surpass everyone in the quest to become the greatest alchemist the world has ever known.

In Trismegistus, players take on the role of 19th-century researchers who have discovered the notes of Trismegistus and are trying to follow his formula for creating the Philosopher's Stone. Over three rounds, representing the years of their promotion, they conduct various experiments and win and transmute metals using mysterious artifacts. At the end of the game, players score points based on their published research, their knowledge of the primordial elements, and their progress towards creating the Philosopher's Stone itself.

The new edition offers more accessible, less complex game mechanics.
