Thrones of Valeria is a card game about taking tricks and manipulating ranks, designed by Matt Jacobs. Thrones of Valeria is for 3-6 players, with special rules for 2 players, and can be played individually or in teams. Preferably you play this game with 3+ players.
Long ago, when the empire was in its infancy, the five Great Houses of Valeria were constantly bickering, stealing, conspiring, and even killing each other - all for the chance to become the richest and most powerful house in the kingdom ! Thrones of Valeria evolved from that power struggle and has been very successful among the common people. Nowadays it is a kind of game that travelers play in inns for fun and money.
Thrones of Valeria is a card game where winning is based on the coins collected and not on the number of tricks won. Each card has a special power that affects how the rounds play out, allowing the Great Houses (the suits of the cards) to change from prestigious to despicable - from winning a small treasure to losing a small fortune. Thrones of Valeria features a scoreboard that tracks the prestige value of the Great Houses, thick "mahjong-style" tiles to represent the relative power of each house, a custom bag, coin tokens and cards designed by The Mico.
