In Thessaloniki, you are a patrician of one of the city's most prominent families during the 4th Roman period. Amidst volatile trade and fierce politics, you vie for wealth and influence. Only the most cunning player rises above the chaos through meticulous planning and strategic insight, seizing fortune and control from their opponents.

In Thessaloniki, players take on the role of influential patricians who want to produce and trade resources, build trading posts and monuments, fulfill contracts, and meet the demands of other trade centers of that era. The game consists of a variable number of rounds in which players take turns developing their strategy by moving workers on a rondel board. In each turn, you collect resources, perform actions, and, where applicable, activate an end-of-turn effect.

A significant part of the competition takes place in the harbor. You want to choose the perfect moment to load the right goods onto merchant ships with different destinations. Shipping goods yields various rewards, such as victory points and immediate benefits. To achieve your goals, you must act efficiently, upgrade your warehouse, fulfill the contracts that suit your plans, and fill both the city and the trade centers with your buildings.
