K2 is the second highest mountain on Earth and the second deadliest. It's known as Savage Mountain because it kills one person for every four who reach the summit... And K2 has never been climbed in winter.
Now your team stands in the shadows, ready to rise to fame and glory. You know the dangers of K2 all too well. Extreme weather with frequent and deadly storms, exposed, steep, difficult routes and lack of oxygen await you on your way to the top. You test your climbing skills to death, trying to outsmart the ever-changing weather and always worrying about the acclimatization of your 2 mountain climbers. There are also the other teams ready to take the honors for themselves.
K2 is a board game in which each player controls a team of 2 mountain climbers, trying to climb to the top of K2 and return before the other players' teams and before the mountain kills them. Each player uses an identical deck of cards. You use the cards to move your climbers on the route depicted on the game board or to acclimatize the members of your team.
You can also pitch a tent and wait for better weather. You will have to choose your path carefully as the other mountaineers may block your way, and you will have to watch carefully for the upcoming weather which can reduce your acclimatization to 0, killing your climbers.
K2 is a hand management game for 1-5 players, with strong interaction and a low luck factor, that can last up to 60 minutes. The theme is very well represented by the mechanics, including elements such as changing weather, lack of oxygen and the death of the mountain climbers. The result is an exciting match for gamers and non-gamers alike.
The box includes a double-sided board with two different routes to the top (easier and harder) and two sets of weather tiles (for summer and winter).
The Games Friends: " K2 is simple in terms of rules, but certainly not in terms of tactical choices. It often happens that one of our mountain climbers does not survive, also because the weather at the top can be quite bad. Yet this is simply a wonderful game for once in a while! ”
