Age of Galaxy is a 4X strategy game where you take control of an interstellar alliance of three factions with unique powers. You can explore star systems, colonize planets, research technologies, build galactic cruisers, and much more. There are multiple paths to victory, depending on how your factions work together and the ideology your alliance espouses.

There are five ideologies:

Science-minded factions dedicate their lives to research and innovation, convinced that knowledge is the only way forward. Military factions are ruthless conquerors who see war as a means to their ends. Diplomatic factions focus on building relationships between factions and attempt to lead Congress through consultation. Industrial factions build ambitious infrastructures and transform planets into advanced cities and industrial complexes. Cultural factions focus on spiritual and cultural development and seek the wisdom offered by ancient relics.

Faction cards can be played in various ways: you can incorporate them into your empire or sacrifice them for a one-time benefit through an agreement. The game features over thirty different factions.

This second edition of Portal Games' Age of Galaxy introduces an enhanced solo mode, a revamped graphic design, and improved components to enrich the gaming experience.
