Codenames is a great party game for the whole family. The rules of Codenames are very easy: try to link as many words as possible. For example, do you see the words 'snow', 'ice' and 'North Pole' in the playing area? Then you can say 'Cold' as the word. Your teammates must then try to link as many words as possible to that one hint you gave.
Sounds easy? Unfortunately not, because in Codenames another team is also working with the same words. Of the 25 words that are on the playing field, you only have to guess 8. So if your teammates point out a word that is not one of your 8 words? Then your turn is over and it could just be that you have helped your opponent.
Codenames Pictures
In Codenames Pictures you have almost the same rules as in the original Codenames, but now you try to send your teammates to matching pictures. This makes this game ideal for younger children or people with dyslexia. Just like in the original Codenames, in Codenames Pictures you try to do everything you can to keep your teammates away from the assassin. If your teammates point it out, you lose immediately. Codenames Duet is a version of Codenames that is perfect for 2 players. In Codenames Duet you try to complete different missions together, which differ in difficulty. This is because you now have to try to complete the game in a certain number of turns. If you don't succeed? Then you have lost immediately!
