Herrlof is a two-person card game set in the Viking Age. Players aim to win the 'herrlof': a sign of honor and victory. Both players are dealt 15 cards with which they compete for 15 tricks. At the start of each round you predict how many tricks you expect to get. But you do this without your opponent seeing it. This makes it a tactical game, because you want to win exactly the right number of tricks and thus earn bonus points. An additional element in the game are the special powers that the 1, 3, 6 and 9 have. There are also two special power cards: one to consciously lose and the other to destroy the entire battle. Slide the card above the game board for a harvest, under the game board for an expansion of the village or discard the card to sell beer and bread. The way you get cards depends on the round. During a strong year you pass cards back and forth, each time choosing a card to play. During a lean year you have to make do with the cards you are dealt, although you are allowed to exchange limited cards with the trading card field.
